Welcome to the 2012 Touchdowns for Kids Golf Benefit!

Now in our 8th year of this fantastic local benefit, I invite you to participate in not only two full days of fun here at the beach with plenty of NFL celebrity players, but to help as we help raise money for our local youth sports activities here in the Rehoboth/Lewes/Dewey Beach areas. Touchdowns For Kids is a non-profit 501c3 organization that has been set up to raise funds needed to provide quality youth sports organizations. We distribute the money raised to our local Rehoboth and Dewey Beach Junior Lifeguard programs, the Rehoboth Beach Little League, and to Milton's Cape Sharks Pop Warner football.

Even in these tough financial times, we still ask for all to pull together to let our kids here at the beach continue to grow through sports and athletics. The prices for all sponsorship and tournament play has remained the same over the past two years. Most all of us at one point or another played some kind of youth sports. Being in a seasonal community, it is that much more important for events like this to help subsidize these leagues and keep them active. So whether you get a team together and play golf with our NFL celebrities or sponsor some part of the tournament, it all goes towards these youth sports leagues and is greatly appreciated -- even more so during this economic downturn.

Reggie Branch, who has been with me at The Starboard Restaurant for the past 16 years since his NFL retirement with the Washington Redskins, works his tail off to bring at least 25 NFL alumni to our small beach town in order to help us raise money for our local kids athletic programs. Reggie walked on to the football team at East Carolina University, then made the Washington Redskins as an Undrafted Free Agent. He played for seven straight seasons and won two Super Bowls with the Redskins, being named the Most Valuable Special Teams player in a Super Bowl! This year, same as last, we have moved the tournament back in June a few weeks in order to have some current NFL players join us once their Spring Mini-camp schedule is complete. It is an extreme treat to have so many quality athletes join us to help raise money for our kids.

The tournament is a two day event, with a Happy Hour / Meet and Greet at The Starboard on Sunday, June 24. Golf is on Monday, June 25 at the wonderful Kings Creek Country Club. We urge all participants to join us on Sunday to meet all of the NFL celebrities as we host a party with the live music of Doug Segree on our Starboard deck followed by Kristen and Joe. Food and drinks will be included for all paid sponsors and participants for the Sunday afternoon event, and then of course we will have a full day of food, beverages, golf, and fun on Monday at Kings Creek.

I understand how busy so many of you can be during this time of year, so I ask that you either join us for a day of golf, or at the very least, stop in and support this fantastic cause on Sunday at the Happy Hour reception at The Starboard.
